NORA
April 10-20
Leah Cohn is honored to have brought Nora to life in Nora. She recently completed her training at The Actors Conservatory, where she has spent the past two years exploring the human experience through storytelling.
"Henrik Ibsen wrote “A Doll’s House” in 1879, and created a “storm of outraged controversy” that went beyond the theater to the world of newspapers and society. The play dealt with highly controversial issues at that time. It’s the story of Nora, a “doll-wife”, and her fight to find herself while being trapped by societal norms. She is to have no opinions but those of her husband and no identity but that of a wife and mother. The Ingmar Bergman adaptation, Nora, has been translated into English by Frederick J. Marker and Lise-Lone Marker. This adaptation focuses on the power struggle between Nora and Torvald and lives on the edge of melodrama. We witness Nora as she attempts to hold her world together before the self realization sinks in that she, for far too long, has lived someone else’s life and now must live her own."
Performances will be at Shaking the Tree Theatre.

Acting is how I connect to the world - and how I find myself in it
